Growing up in adversity

Sylvia, an 18-year-old, grew up in a dysfunctional family environment marked by neglect and substance misuse. She endured emotional and physical abuse, which fuelled feelings of worthlessness and low self-esteem. As a coping mechanism, Sylvia developed anorexia nervosa.

Finding support through Rock Trust

At 17, Sylvia’s home life become unbearable, forcing her to leave. With limited resources, she found herself on the streets, navigating the challenges of homelessness while battling her eating disorder.

Sylvia connected with Rock Trust through local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Our team provided immediate support, including housing assistance, food, and medical care.

A new chapter of healing and hope

Since engaging with Rock Trust, Sylvia has made remarkable progress. Through our intensive housing support, she started living in a permanent tenancy house, and we’re helping her manage her anorexia nervosa with therapy and nutritional guidance.

Sylvia’s wellbeing has massively increased since starting working with Rock Trust:
