New Perth Properties Unveiled

The flats, leased to Rock Trust by the council at a nominal rent, have been refurbished by the team, converting them into affordable first homes for young people affected by homelessness.

Last week, in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council and Every Youth, and with the support of our funders, John Laing Charitable Trust and The Gannochy Trust, we’ve unveiled four newly refurbished one-bed flats for young people in Perth.

The Future Builders project was first launched in Perth in 2020, aimed at young people in the area who have recently experienced homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

The new flats had been empty long-term and the project workers have done an excellent job at re-decorating and re-furnishing, converting them into modern first properties for young people.

To celebrate the four new properties, and the success of Future Builders and our other two projects in Perth, we welcomed local politicians, national funders and key decision makers at the Perth and Kinross Council to an open day. Everyone had the opportunity to visit one of the four new re-furbished flats where a young person is moving in very soon.

We are determined that young people who need this kind of assistance do not end up slipping through the cracks, which could see them facing homelessness.
