Nick McGruer
Nick has been a trustee on our board for multiple years, most recently heading up our Services sub-committee. He is currently the Head of Department Consumer Investments and Head Scotland Office for the Financial Conduct Authority.
As chair he will lead our board of 10 trustees who bring a very broad range of skills, experience, and interests.

Speaking about her time as chair. Julia said:
“There are two particular highlights from my term as chair that I specifically cherish and would like to highlight. The first was the 30th anniversary celebration where I was delighted to meet so many of you in person and which gave us a chance to reflect together, with our supporters, on all that we have accomplished. The second is the launch of Upstream at the Scottish Parliament where we met so many people new to the work of Rock Trust and we talked about the innovative approaches to addressing the challenges of youth homelessness being led by the Rock Trust.
I am so pleased to see how much Rock Trust has grown and developed since 2020. We are now operating in 3 more local authority areas and supporting more young people than ever before. And in the last year we were fortunate to secure significant additional funding which we are using to enable us to innovate and to pilot new approaches such as Upstream.
Though we do still face many challenges; in providing the support that YP need, in securing the long-term financial futures of our projects and ensuring the positive mental health of you, our staff team. To this end, the leadership team at RT has expanded bringing in new skills and taking on more responsibility for day-to-day activities, which enables Kate to have more time to champion the RT locally, nationally and internationally.
I would like to note the support of all the trustees that have been part of the Board since 2020. Their diverse expertise means that we have an extended network of RT champions across the UK to guide the work that we do.
It is now time for me to step down as Chair, though I am staying as a trustee for the time being, and I am delighted to announce that Nick McGruer has been voted in as our new Chair. Nick has been an enthusiastic member of the Board since 2021 and been working closely with the RT services team. He will be a fantastic Chair of the RT Board. ”
