Since our first Sleep Out in 1993, over 2,000 people have participated in one of our Sleep Out events, collectively raising over half a million pounds towards our services for local young people affected by homelessness.

It is because of the dedication and passion of our community that our annual Sleep Outs have grown year on year, enabling us to shine a spotlight on the specific challenges facing homeless young people, whilst raising vital funds for our front line work.

Will you join us as we celebrate this milestone in our history? Individuals, groups and businesses who have taken part over the past 25 years are encouraged to get in touch with us and share your stories, memories, and photographs, to help us create an exhibition of ’25 years of Edinburgh Sleeping Out’.

Our trustee, Alex Smith, is the first to share her experiences. Long before becoming a trustee of the Rock Trust, Alex took part in 1995 with her flatmates when she was still at University. Speaking about her experience all those years ago, Alex said, ‘The Rock Trust Sleep Out is one of my stand out memories from university days – it was a meaningful way for our group of friends to get some perspective on our own lives and a better appreciation of the difficulties faced by those forced onto the streets.  We did have fun despite the cold, and most importantly we raised awareness and funds to help ensure other young people didn’t end up sleeping rough.”
