Paula Sharp, Chair
Paula is a qualified accountant who worked in local government for over 13 years. She then became a management consultant and is now self-employed. Since 1994 her firm, Paula Gilder Consulting, has specialised in local authority services, including financial management, community care and corporate governance, and she has also undertaken projects for voluntary organisations and health boards.
Between 1995 and 2005 Paula was a Member of the Board of Link Homes and its successor, LinkLiving. She was on the Board of Turning Point Scotland from its establishment in 1999 until 2009, serving as Chair from 2005-2007. Her interests outside work include travel, walking, the Gaelic language and culture and music, both traditional and classical.
Simon Jaquet , Vice Chair
Simon is Director of Simon Jaquet Consultancy Services, providing specialist expertise to agencies in the public and voluntary sector which work with young people. He also works as a consultant with the Charities Aid Foundation. He is currently Chair of the Edinburgh Youth Work Consortium.
He has 30 years experience of work with young people, having worked in national youth organisations, local youth projects, community arts, intermediate treatment and in teaching - in Scotland, in France and in Botswana.
Judith Brown
Judith enjoyed a long, varied and challenging professional life within mainstream and special education; particularly specialising in the introduction of the concept and practice of integration. She is a Master Practitioner in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), a Life coach and is currently studying for a degree in Psychology. Her other interests include Mindfulness and she aims to provide an integrated therapeutic practice. She is an active member of St. Johns Church.
Her other interests include fitness, music, and travelling.
Dave Proudfoot
Dave is a qualified accountant who has worked in the private and public sector. He has specialised in internal audit and governance and is currently Deputy Chief Internal Auditor with Lothian Health Board. He is a Group Scout Leader and was a volunteer befriender and fundraiser with The Rock Trust before joining the Board.
Monica Barry
Monica has worked in the social work/criminal justice field in Scotland for over 20 years and is a trained social worker and researcher. She worked in Community Service Volunteers, Save the Children and Action for Children Scotland for many years before becoming an academic researcher in 1994. Her main interests are in young people, youth transitions and youth justice. She is the research representative on the Criminal Justice Standing Committee of the Association of Directors of Social Work, as well as a Board Member of Who Cares? Scotland, an advocacy organisation for young people who are looked after and accommodated.
Liz McNeil
Liz qualified as an accountant in the U.S. and worked in professional services there for over 10 years. She moved to Scotland in 1992 worked in the National Health Service for both health boards and acute hospitals in the west of Scotland. After leaving the health service, she worked part time as a financial consultant and as a volunteer for not for profit sports organizations; primarily focused on business planning, governance, fundraising and finance.
She is particularly interested in improving opportunities for young people and is currently volunteering with Fuse, a youth café in the east end of Glasgow, as well as joining The Rock Trust Board. Outside of volunteering, her other interests are fitness, music, DIY and crafts and traveling.
Ian Quigley
Ian holds an honours degree in Law and Economics and has recently retired as a partner of a large commercial law firm. He is very interested in the development of the potential of young people and is keen to use his commercial (and wider life) experiences to positively contribute towards the work of the Rock Trust.
Elsewhere, Ian currently volunteers for the Riding for the Disabled Association at Drum Stables and is Chairman of Vestry at Rosslyn Chapel. His recreational activities include cycling, gardening, skiing and spending many happy hours in the company of his grandchildren.
Marion Forbes
Marion is currently HR Director of Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, having been with the company for 6 years. Marion has over 15 year experience in HR and has worked in the private sector in a variety of challenging roles.
In her spare time Marion is a youth group leader and enjoys spending time with her two children.
