A HR specialist, currently Mary has a flexible and varied working life. She does some freelance work, principally providing HR support to non- profit organisations, volunteers as a project team member and mentor with Pilotlight, coaching charities to think and act more strategically, with the aim of increasing effectiveness and sustainability, and is a member of the Employment Tribunals Service. She is a Trustee/Director of the Scottish Council on Deafness and has recently joined the Board of Women’s Aid, East and Midlothian.
Previously she held a number of senior positions in HR most recently leading an HR team at Scottish Water. Key areas of professional interest throughout her career include data analytics, partnership working, diversity and inclusion, business ethics and employment law.
Mary loves the woods, hills and coastline of East Lothian and exploring as much of it on foot as she can.
She was particularly attracted by the Rock Trust’s person centred approach and commitment to providing youth specific services as well as their ambition and belief in ending youth homelessness altogether and she is delighted to be able to contribute by serving on the Board.
