For just one night – swap your bed for a sleeping bag and help give homeless young people a future.
A Night Outdoors To Make A Difference.
The Rock Trust has organised a sponsored Sleep Out in Edinburgh every November since 2004.
In 2012, we ran our first Sleep Out in partnership with other youth homelessness charities across the UK, including Centrepoint in London (who have Prince William, HRH The Duke of Cambridge as patron, who is happy to be actively involved). This event was televised live on the Community Channel, hosted by Richard Madely and Sarah Cox, and the broadcast featured all the other Sleep Out locations, including our event in Festival Square, Edinburgh.
We had participants from local businesses, including RBS and university students, but because this was held on a Thursday, no children were about to be involved as they were not able to take part in a sponsored sleep out on a school night.
In 2015, with three sleep out events, we raised an amazing £75,000! This funding has made a significant impact in the lives of the most disadvantaged young people in our community.
We will be running two Sleep Out events in 2016:
- End Youth Homelessness Sleep Out 2016, on Friday 4th November, for businesses, organisations & individual supporters.
- Under 21’s Sleep Out 2016, on Friday 25th November 2016, for children & young people aged 12 – 21 years old
