Can you spare 5 hours to help distribute water to the Edinburgh marathon runners on Sunday 28th May 2017?

We need enthusiastic people to volunteer their time and energy to help out.

The Rock Trust is manning Hydration Station 2 at the Edinburgh Marathon this year. This is on Portobello promenade, at the bottom of Kings Road.

We need to assemble a team of 30 volunteers to come from 7am – 12 noon and help man the water station.

Volunteers need to arrive and set up the water station at 7am. This involves lugging trays of water bottles to each side of the road, then open thousands of bottles of water and when the half and full marathon runners run past, hand them to them.

You will need to bring gardening gloves, or your hand will suffer, and be prepared to get a bit wet as there are splashes and spillages, but you will be given a free marathon t shirt and snacks! Plus a warm fuzzy feeling of helping these charity heroes get through their marathon challenge.

This can be quite an emotional task – watching thousands of people toiling away for their chosen charities is quite a spectacle and makes one well up with pride and a few tears have been shed while passing out the H2O!

Be aware that buses are not running this early because of the marathon so volunteers need to be able to get there!

Please email events@rocktrust.org if you are willing to help. Thank you.
