How do you want to donate?

We regularly provide emergency food parcels to young people in financial crisis. The young people often stay in temporary accommodation and will be living on a low income. If they are staying in a B&B, then they will have no access to a kitchen and will usually only have the use of a kettle. The food items that we are always in need of are those that do not require cooking facilities or that only require hot water to prepare, including:
• Cup-a-soups
• Pot noodles
• Super noodles
• Pasta n Sauce
• Dry pasta
• Dry noodles
• Cereal
• Small multipack cereal boxes
• Porridge pots
• Biscuits
• Crisps
• Crackers
• Oatcakes
• Cereal bars
We regularly require donations of unopened toiletries:
• deodorant (male and female)
• razors (male and female)
• conditioner
• shampoo
• soap
• shaving foam
• toothpaste
• small bottles of mouth wash
• sanitary products (tampons and good quality sanitary towels)
• shower gel
Your £20 would provide emergency winter fuel payment for two vulnerable young people struggling to keep warm.

Why not mark an occasion by giving young homeless people in Scotland something to celebrate? Weddings, birthdays, retirements. Whatever the occasion, you can ask friends and relatives to mark it by donating to The Rock Trust.
To set up your online gift list, go to Virgin Money Giving and select ‘create your page’ and ‘special occasion’, and then follow the instructions.
Your unwanted shares can give homeless young people a future. Are you one of the thousands of people who own a small amount of shares that you’re not sure what to do with – perhaps from an inheritance, company privatisation or takeover? You may not have thought to do anything with them, for fear of generating more paperwork than income. Why not put those shares to a really good use by donating them to The Rock Trust? We will accept all donations of shares, whatever the size. They may not mean much to you, but they could change a young homeless person’s future.
There are four simple steps to donating shares

  1. Transfer the gift of shares to The Rock Trust
  2. Keep evidence of the gift, the date it was made and The Rock Trust’s acceptance
  3. Claim the appropriate tax relief
  4. Be aware that if you receive any benefit as a result of making the gift of shares, this will reduce your tax relief
